out of Sayreville this morning with regular fishing buddies Dave and John under threatening skies, original plan was to start in the back and work our way out to the hook,Dave picked a 20 incher by the train bridge and we picked a few shorts and I mean a few, moved to the lighthouse and no takers, moved up to vicinity of the 1 can Keyport and hardly moving wind against tide, stayed here to tail end of the out going and not even a bite.decided not to move up to the hook,a good stiff wind and chop on the bay, didn't want to take a wet ride in my open boat.started to move to back bay and got caught in a down pour, stopped the boat and put on our rain suits and waited it out, only lasted about a half hour.moved back to the triangle area and tried, nothing for the longest time,at least when the tide changed, wind and tide in the same direction and able to have a decent drift.ended up South amboy just before the sand barges and had our most action,John got one about 20 inches and Dave got another just over 18,I caught a couple but wasn't able to contribute any thing for the box and also we caught a few small blues.bait for the day was smelt and squid combo and some gulp combos with the squid and smelt.after the down pour the weather was good the rest of the day, headed in a little after 3,not a bad day of fishing, but not your best either.
