It is not too early for crabs, but there are still a lot of throwbacks and egg carrying females. From what I have heard and seen, Barnegat Bay dock crabbing has been slow, but picking up as this week goes on. Dock Outfitters has had a good showing of crabs off their pier. Boat crabbers are doing well, if they are willing to put in the time and move around. You have to work for them, but if you work a bushel of crabs for a days outing is possible.Beaver Dam and Dividing Creek in Southern Jersey have not disappointed so far this year. Beaver Dam has been HOT. You have to rent a boat there and they tow you out. If you get there for the 6am tow, a bushel is certainly possible there as well.Cheesequake Creek has been very productive as well. The Navesink River has been slow pickings so far and the northern Ocean County waters have been slow as well.As for clamming, I know they do pretty well on the bayside of IBSP near the sedges year 'round, so now really shouldn't be any different. I have not heard any definitive reports, though, to date. Clammers tend to be very tight lipped on their beds and clamming locations because there are so few spots.Good Luck. Hope this helps?
