Beautiful Day 7/11
« on: July 11, 2009, 12:46:38 PM »
For Bucky's benefit I shall try to type clearly.

I only had a couple of hours to make myself scarce; and the whole deal surfaced too late to pull together my usual crew. So solo I was, passing a yellow Sea Hunt still in slip loading up at BPM at 5:20.

Well just clear of the Keyport ramp that Sea Hunt had enough of the no wake, and headed out to points unknown, presumably targeting massive losses of handtied handpainted rigs.

A drift near the Keyport flats convinced me the incoming had yet to come in; so I motored to the Triangle and studied the conditions to find lots of stuff going on. The first drift there produced 3 flukes but alas they were short.

A few more drifts put a few more fluke in the boat short short short. Fluke were favoring spearing on the dead stick but the bucktail/squid was landing the bigger fish. Many more boats had arrived in the area by this time.

Made a move near the 46 where it was fishes on, I could have used some help. Again, nice 17+" ers but the cops cruised by to remind me to be nice. A few more drifts and it was time to head in so I took advantage of the near glass conditions to blow out the carbon so to speak. Ya Sista's A$$ set a new water speed record for overweight old tired Gradys of 33kt @ 5100rpm. Felt like she wanted to go more but I knew explodey was lurking just around the tach. I pulled her down to earth in time to clean up and enjoy a soda before heading home for the usual Saturday honey why didn't you do this already list.

Maybe try to get the band together tomorrow for more fun. And keepers....

Lol, that yellow sea hunt was fishing the njh tourny. The owner of said boat told crew to be there at 5 and they were late so.  We had to move a little to get out there. And yes we lost a ton of bucktails. Was good fishing til the winds cranked
