IBSP 7/15/09

Hit the park for a couple hours this morning.  near the end of incoming, east wind, crystal clear water, light surf
Tried for fluke. Various Gulp products on bucktails.  Nothing.
Lots of small bait within 100ft of the sand.  Birds all over them.  About 5 or 6 of us throwing various metal into and around the bait...no fish to be found.
Saw the same with bait last night in Pt. Pleasant and this afternoon in SSH.

Grumpy's recommended Gulp chart. belly strips.  Said they were **** awesome.  So I tried them.  They looked real nice moving thru the water, lots of flutter action.  But then again...I'm not a fluke so what do I know.  And since there were no fish in the ocean today, I can't say how well they work.

Try again Friday.

Nice try!  I bet those Gulp Belly Strips are a good replacement for squid.

The only thing I do not like about the strips is that they seem to long.  I tried them a few weeks ago in the Sea Hawk before they reallyy came out and did not have to much luck with them.  It seemed that the fluke were witting the bucktails tipped with gulp swimming minnow.

I am still doing stuff from the wedding out in Hawaii and have not had a chance to get out yet.  I can't wait to hit the beach once again.

I thought I had a transmission problem and had the veh looked at by the dealer and Cottman Trans.  Both seem to agree it was the new pair of tires I had replaced on the rear.  They measured the tires and found that the new Toyo tires (even though they had the same size as the Good Year)were in fact small in size causing the differential to slip.  Pretty weird, so I have new Good Years on order I hope they are put on before the weekend.

Happy Catching

Paul

I thought the same thing about the length Paul.  I actually trimmed a bit off the fat end.

we have to get out and fish together when you get the truck worked out.

I am waiting for tires.  Believe it or not it has come down to a mismatch in tire sizes.  I had Good Years on before I got a chunk of tree stuck in the sidewall of the right rear tire and had to change it and of course what you do to one side you do the the other.  Well they did not have my size in Good Years in stock and was talked into TOYO's.  It seems like even though the tire reads the same specs as the Good Year's they are in face a smaller tire.  Being the Expedition is an all wheel drive this is a miss match for the differential and slippage occurred when there is a load put on the drive train.

I just hope they do not give me a hard time.  I bought the new tires at STS simply because they were the closest and the tire went flat 50 yards from their door.  :P
