Raritan Bay Fluking 8/14
« on: August 14, 2009, 08:43:24 PM »
got a late start today due to problem with  tstats on the motor, out to the open bay around noon with fishing buddy John and started drifting back bay area, then in contact with Salty Dog on the cell that he has a good bite going at the 14 can in the reach,be there in 10,headed up and seen him and got some peanuts from him and started fishing, seen him pull in some nice fish.we didn't get any thing for awhile,it was frustrating, we drifted close to the Captain John who was holding his boat at idle right on a hot bite for his fares, watched fish steady coming in,John then boated the first keeper a fat one just over 19 inches and not long after I followed with one at 20 inches.Salty Dog let us know he was heading for the barn and gave us the remaining live peanuts he had.we continued fishing the same area after everyone cleared out,I managed one more keeper at 19 1/2 inches and that was it for keepers, then worked the Reach coming back, only a few shorts and some almosts.made a quick try at the train bridge catching a short and a few misses before leaving to come in around 5:30.great day on the water and thanks to Stew (Salty Dog)for the heads up on the bite, only wish we were there earlier.  Kez
