Had my old friend Jose Reyes charter the boat today with his wife Amy, father in law Bob, and friend Julio. Jose was the lucky winner of a GC for a charter on the boat at last December's Christmas Party.
Did the 8:30-2:30 shift. Got some good intel this morning of a good local bite, so we shot out there and got started. Slow start, but once the drift picked up so did the fishing. Lots of shorts, keepers mixed in, plus seabass mixed in size from shorts to some nice keepers.
Stayed with this most of the day, but at 1PM I decided to try a lump about 5 miles to our SE - wound up being nothing but shorts, so we shot back to the rough stuff where we started and finished the day strong with a few more keepers.
Had a load of seabass, some nice keepers to 2.5#, as well as ~50 fluke to 5# (taken by Bob) Lots of fish in the 20-22" range today - and a lot of shorts in the 17-17.9999" range. Wound up with a total of 19 in the box at day's end - real good day! Great fishing with Jose again, and it was a pleasure having this crew on board!
I will post pics on my site tomorrow night!
Scott, thanks again!!!
