08/15 Misty Morn Magic Hour Report
« on: August 15, 2009, 10:56:43 PM »
Jason & I along with my wife jumped aboard the Misty Morn tonight for some fluking. Even though we were the first to arrive a little before 3, by the time the boat pulled out of the slip at 4 we were joined by another 43 fares.

Started off fishing the western Reach Channels. Conditions were such that we drifted down the green side into the deep and up the red side. I opted to start off bucktailing and picked a few 16-17.5" fluke. Jason & Laurie dragged bait and picked a few as well. On th second drift I went to pulling eat with a teaser fly above. This yielded me a nice 22" early in the second drift. I believe one other keeper was taken on this drift. Stayed in this area for another drift before moving over towards Keyport and finally to a mid bay snag. Each drift yielded fish with the majority being shorts. I flipped flopped between bucktaling and dragging meat. Both producing. I was the only of the 3 of us to get a keeper but we all had steady action.

Only 7 keepers taken for the 45 fares. Mine was good enough to take the pool. It might not have been real big, but it was big enough as there was no real other contender.

Good Work! Nice Pic!

How is the Morn? I see her packed every weekend as we leave our marina. How are the mates and the captain?

On the weekends (especially from May-Sept.) during the day she is usually chartered, thus seems to be full. They do have some weekday charters.

Most of the magic hour trips are open (but on occasion they are chartered).

Most magic hour trips they have 25 or less. Last night for whatever reason is was pretty much a full boat, so it was the 'right' pool to win.

Captain(s) and Mates are some of the best. Very friendly and more than willing to help, teach.
