Last Fri my cell phone rang around noon.
John says Art wanna go fishing.
I said yes.
John says lets go on a party boat for Bluefish.
I said John today is the last day for Fluke.
We can go Blue fishing next time.
I made a call to Capt Mike and asked him if he was sailing Fri afternoon for Fluke.Mike replied yes.
I called John back and told him let me get my gear together and you can pick me up.
John picked me up at 1 pm.The boat wasn't sailing until 5pm so we had plenty of time even if we hit shore traffic.When we got on the GSP there was no traffic.John says How bout we stop for Lunch at the Keyport Fishery.We stopped and munched out.
At 3pm we arrived in Perth Amboy.The Sea Hawk was in her slip & I asked the mates how the catching was in the am.The mate said slow keeper wise but lots of shorts.I turn to John & said I don't care if we catch shorts I just want to go.John says ok Art.At 5pm the boat left the slip and within 10 minutes we were fishing.
1 of the mates gave me dead snappers and I stripped 1 up.As soon as I hit bottom I caught a short Fluke.John turned to me & said Art already.I baited up again & got slammed but I miss the fish.John knew I had every color 6" Gulp Grub with me so he went into 1 of the containers & pulled out my last Pink Shine Grub.John tipped his 2 oz spro with a Pink Shine 6" Grub and dropped down.2 minutes later I look at John and his rod is doubled over.John boated a 6.5 lb Fluke.At that Time I knew John had the pool winner.We took some pictures and we both baited up again.Next drift we boated a few shorts.On the 3 rd Drift John boats a 6.3 lb Fluke.At 8:45 pm John won the pool & he collected $95.He gave the mates a $40 tip and also gave me $20 to cover my lunch and he kept the rest for himself.
