FINALLY got out to do some fishing.
Friday sailed on the Sea Hawk for the last day of the fluke season. Good action, but few and far in between for keepers. I managed one as did Theresa. No great ending to an already fluke season of disarray.
Love to fish for the flatties but happy it's over.
Headed back out on Saturday for some mixed bag bottom fishing. Caught a few blueclaws and asian shore crabs for bait. Spent way too much time trying to fish them when others were bailing porgies. Only had one SAM on the crabs and soon started dropping clams down. Managed to put around 20 nice sized porgies into the cooler along with a seabass. T stuck with the crabs longer but also joined in on the porgy action. It's one fish she seems to struggle at but boxed 4 nice ones in a row at the end.
First drop the captain made was a good steady pick of porgies for all. Would slow down some and a little repositioning and we'd have at em again. Captain decided to head out for some seabass and we drifted with alot of action. Too many shorts though and after the boat did cull some keepers, Capt Mike took us back to the porgy grounds for another decent pick of them.
Pool fish was a tie between a nice jumbo porgy and a seabass. Catches ranged from 4 to 20+ a person with scup and a few had more than one keeper seabass.
All in all a good day of catching
