NY State Saltwater Lic Required October 1, 2009

AS of October 1, 2009 you will need a NY State Saltwater Lic to Fish NY Waters.

They were going back and forth between Jan 1 2010 and Oct 1, 2009....they chose October 1.

Just got my letter from NY DEC as a Party/Charter Boat I must purchase a $400 lic to fish in NY Waters till Dec 31. (In addition to my $250 Party/Charter Boat permit)

Well I am not paying $400 to fish 2 months, besides 95%  of the fishing I do in the fall is in NJ waters.

Going to think long and hard about shelling out $400+$250=$650 to fish NY waters next year.....

Can you fish NY Waters if you just have a single fishing license or how did they set that up?

Yes you can by the individual Lic that would fulfill all obligations

# If you are fishing upstream from the Tappan Zee Bridge and are fishing for non-migratory fish (such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, carp, walleye, and perch), you will need to have a freshwater fishing license.

# If you are fishing upstream from the Tappan Zee Bridge and are fishing for "migratory fish from the sea" (such as striped bass, American shad, hickory shad, blueback herring, or alewife), you need to acquire a recreational marine fishing license in addition to a freshwater fishing privilege.
