New Member...Ready to Fish
« on: September 15, 2009, 02:39:34 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I am glad to be aboard and hope to get lots of knowledge and find some fishing buddies... or buddettes.

In a nutshell, I am relatively new to the sport. Have some good gear and looking to use it more effectively.

Dont know much about the area, but willing to learn.

Standard Surf Gear:

11' StarRod
Penn 525 Mag

So, Sept 14...What's biting? When are the Stripers running through? And who wants to go?

PS: Never would have known but awesome Big Stripers right in the Hudson by GW Bridge...Landed a 30 pounder...What a day..

Al

Welcome!  chrz

There's some reports of stripers around the area....Clams would be a good choice of bait after all the NE winds we've been having.

Where are you located?

Welcome Aboard acustic66,

Like a few before me asked, where are you located and where do you intend to fish.  As there is a lot of fishing grounds in NJ many of us that surf fish and post are located below Point Pleasant.  So if you are interested to know the conditions there fire away.

Again Welcome Aboard

Happy Catching

Paul

I am in Toms River and my fishing area is from roughly Ortley Beach south to the inlet.  This is a great time to be out on the beach as the fall run has not started but there have been stripers caught in small pockets.  The blues have been making a showing as well. Most of us post when we are heading out so if you need a way to access the beach just give a shout and if there is room on board I am sure most won't mind the company.

Happy Catching

Hey Paul,

Well. for me in NE Philly. Straight across 195 is my quickest bet...Hit Point Pleasant and head south... Been to IBSP. Nice place but came home blank. I parked by the Maintenance station and walked on the beach...My SUV is not 4WD and dont want to get stuck...

I'll be good to go after this weekend...Just trying now to find out how to dress...

Regards,

Al

If / when you're planning to make a trip, give a shout and I'll meet up, schedule permitting.

Speaking of which, us surf guys need to plan a little group trip at IBSP soon.

I'm ready.  Just had the Expedition tuned up and she is ready to go.  Hit the beach the other day and it felt good to be out there again.  Saw a couple of friends out there but ran out of bait and ran out of time.

Lets make it soon before it gets to cold.

Happy Catching
