I heard the reports had been slow for bass but I wanted to do a shakedown trip to get ready for the main run. Left the dock around 8:45 and anchored up at Romer Shoal Light. Clam chummed for about three hours and managed to catch a boat load of sharks, skates, and sea robbins. Moved up to the Shrewsberry Rocks to see if I could catch my son a couple of blues. There were plenty of birds and some smalls blues breaking the surface but couldn't get them to take any thing shinny. I did manage to catch a nice fluke on a hopkins jig. The winded dropped and the ocean was around 60 degrees. A couple of more weeks to go before it really begins to turn on.
On a separate note, I tried to move in close and get a nice picture of what looked like a small aircraft carrier entering the hook around 3:00PM. I guess I got a little too close and was greeted by a couple a small commando cruisers with what looked like m-16s mounted on the bow pointed at me. They told me not so nicely to get lost and I was more than happy to oblige. Next time I will used a telescopic lens.
