10-26-09 bass report
« on: October 27, 2009, 10:53:20 AM »
Cut out of work early with 3 buddies and headed out for some stripers. Headed for a not so secret spot north of SR Inlet and found the fish. Started trolling 1 tube rig and 1 shad rig and the tubes were killing it so I switched over to all tubes. We ended up with 5 keeper bass, more than a dozen short bass and a half dozen or so blues. Water was clean and 57.9 degrees with loads of balled up sand eels. Tried jigging but the fish were not interested. Had several times when both rods went off with multiple fish on each rig. Nice 2 and half hours of fishing.

It was nice to get out and relax - not burn 150 gallons of fuel and be able to put some meat in the box. I love the offshore stuff but it is also nice to put together a small crew and catch a few fish without killing yourself. We had a quick easy ride,  burned 21 gallons of fuel and I ran home at 36 knots - $15.00 per man - you can't beat that.  t^

You don't get many $15 a man trips in now a days with the price of fuel and bait. That is a breath of fresh air.  t^
