Hunter 2- Raritan bay striper Oct 31,2009
« on: October 31, 2009, 05:33:41 PM »
Chris (Cashin) and I left Keyport at 6am and head up the Raritan by some of the bridges. We drifted live eels for awhile and made a few moves. I was busy with a phone call deadsticking 2 rods when Chris said, Ed, check that rod it bounced alittle and the line is slack. I quickly picked it up and the line was slack So I reeled in slowly and felt something.  So I reeled in some more and felt more weight and a head shake. SO I set the hook and the fight was on. I was reeling it in and the net was on my left, Chris was on the right so I handed him the rod and he fought the fish for awhile. Chris and I swapped the net and pole and I got the Striper by the boat and he netted it like a pro. The striper weighed in at 24.5lbs and was around 41" long. we had a few bluefish biteoffs after that but no more Striper's. The weather was great before sunrise then the wind started blowing very hard. It did not effect us too much because we were up in the bay.   Good luck,   Eddie TT^
