Irish Ayes Election Day Blues 11/3/09
« on: November 03, 2009, 06:30:53 PM »
I met Joe at the Dock just around 9:00 this morning.  Rounding out the crew today were Pete and Eddie (Hunter 2).  We headed out of a snotty looking inlet and took a right turn, looking for some bird play.  Unfortunately, the birds weren't there and the fishfinder wasn't giving up any fish for us either.  So, out came the trolling gear and the umbrella rigs.

The fish were definitely scattered today.  And we never did find a large concentration of them.  We did manage to troll up some bluefish, and jigs accounted for several more.

The highlight of the trip was the 4 lb. blue that struck the spoon trailer on one of the umbrella rigs!  What was so special about a 4 lb. blue hitting the spoon trailer on an umbrella rig?  Well, what made it so cool was that the spoon we were trolling was a real spoon!  Joe had painted one of his regular table spoons, and added the split rings and a hook!  And sure enough it worked! clp

No stripers today.  But it sure was beautiful out there.  It was nice to finally see the sun again.  Great day!t^

Sounds like a nice trip.
The spoon thing is too funny.

Standing on the beach today, seeing how smooth the water looked out a ways, I was thinking it would be on the water, but one hell of a ride out of the inlets.

I guess you can say we spoon fed them today. I gotta get me a hobby for when I am not fishing.  ;D

Will be trying for tog for a bit tomorrow and then maybe look for stripers again.

That's great guys.  That spoon looks great.  I will have to try a church key off the surf.  All I have to do is find an old metal one.
