No sign of missing boater
« on: November 16, 2009, 09:33:27 AM »
Greenwood Lake, NY

Police boats and helicopters searched the waters of Greenwood Lake all day Sunday looking for a 39 year old man who went missing after what was to be a short boat ride.
The size of the lake posed challenges for the search teams as the estimated distance from where the boat was launched in New Jersey, to where the boat was found  with engine still running in neutral on Storm Island hours later is 3 miles or more.
The missing boater is Steven Zaicek,a local who lives along the lake. Police asked that anyone with information about the missing boater call them at 845-477-9211

Update: Exhausted divers will resume the search on Monday. Since Saturday night, a multitude of law enforcement agencies, and volunteer firefighters have used helicopters, dive teams, boats and side-scan sonar to no avail.
"We're looking at everything, but we have no evidence that he's alive" Police are keeping all possibilties open, including that Zaicek might not be in the water.
