Fishing Reels With Barnegat written on the side?

Got this inquiry..  Can anyone answer this question?

SORRY TO BOTHER YOU BUT I AM IN POSSESSION ON AN OLD FISHING REEL WITH BARNEGAT ON ITS SIDE AND THATS ALL. I CANT FIND ANYTHING ON THE NET TO ID IT. THOUGHT MAYBY YOU MIGHT KNOW SOMETHING. I ASSUME IT WAS MADE IN BARNEGAT. ITS AN OLD BAITCASTER. ANY INFO WOULD BE HELPFUL.  THANKYOU

we had a thread on this subject and some one (see I'dont remember) posted the web site on antigue fishing equipment.
Does any body remember or did we forget.
 At least ,I rememebered there is a site about this stuff. (or I think I do).
Where is my fishing equipment anyway???

Hope my wife didn't sell it for what I told her I paid for it.

Hey Rod...can you ask the owner if the feet of the reel have the letters "H" and "I" on the back with a square and diamond etched around them?

I think this is a Horrocks-Ibbotson Reel.  Was made in Utica, NY.  My father has a couple of these reels on old bamboo poles. 

Should be able to research it from there.  I don't know much else.

on the bottom of the reel that connects it to the rod the number 150 is stamped

Yeah, that is a Horrocks-Ibbotson Company Reel.  They usually have an "H I" with a diamond shape and possibly another shape on the back there too, but I guess it depends on when it was made.  I know they use the logo design to date the reels now.  However, I don't know about all of that.  I looked on the net and there isn't a whole lot of info out there about this company or reels.  Only thing I could find was a early to mid 1900's company that sold low to middle range fishing tackle.  They were based out of Utica, NY and had a full line of reels.  Their early fly rods and reels are very collectible.  There were the biggest fishing tackle company in the world at one time and through "evolution" they were eventually bought by Shakespeare.

 

He might be able to get some more information from an antique/vintage fishing collector.
