Tices Shoal
« on: January 06, 2010, 03:32:34 PM »
Hey guys. I never got to Tices Shoal this past season, and I want to go as I hear it's a great place to hang out. I have a 20ft. c.c. on a trailer. I want to take my daughter there but she is a little scared of the waves and bumps. I know, I know, what can I tell you. Gotta make her happy. Can anyone tell me where there is a close ramp to Tices? Maybe no more than a 10-15 min. run. or closer. I'm in Point Pl. Is Forked River the closest area to drop the boat. I think thats pretty much right accross from Tices. Am I close? And do you know the name of the ramp or Marina? Please give me as much info as you can. Thank You. grtn chrz

I'm not a boat guy, but i think the State Marina in Forked River is pretty close.  Slow cruise out thru the lagoons there and then straight across the bay.

Either that area or Barnegat Light would be the closest launch areas that I know of.

There is a ramp in Barnegat that is owned by the town and is on the west side of the bay with a big parking lot or you have  a couple of ramps in Seaside and Seaside Park on the east side of the bay.Check out hot links on NJSWF this should help.

It is pretty much a straight shot across the bay from Forked River to Tices.  Here is a link that shows ramps in NJ

The public ramp in Forked River is dirt but is free and has a little parking.  Rick's has a nice ramp but is pay per use.  Tices is a lot of fun for the kids.  Have fun!!

Phil, Trixes is located just down from Forked River, it is $10.00 for launch and parking accross the street. Nice cement launch. Trixes is just North of the 40 marker in BB and Tices  is to the south just off from Forked River.
