Montauk tomorrow
« on: January 19, 2010, 03:42:45 PM »
Heading out to the Montauk tonight to fish the Viking tomorrow, sounds like fishing picked up the last 2 days. I will post up the report when I get back.

We got them  ;D  Arrived at the boat  12:15am in order to get prime spots at the rail since the reports have been good and figure the boat might be railed today, well we could have arrived at 2:50am for the 3am boat  and picked where ever we wanted to fish. The boat only had 19 pass. included my group of 3. A 140ft boat and 19 pass, wow. Capt Carl told us it would be a 3 hour ride to the grounds. Arrived on the grounds and started to catch a few dogs, after a couple of drifts the sky started to light up and so did the cod. We had a good steady pick the first few hours then it slow down a bit but picked back up before we headed for home. We had our limit of 30 for 3 of us by 10:30. Capt. Carl and the mates did a great job keeping us on the fish.

We caught all our fish on bait. Some people caught fish on jigs but mostly bait was the way to go.
