That is the proposed dates, nothing has been voted on or set in stone as of yet from my understanding.

The trouble with fishing is it was better before you got there, and after you left.
When in doubt...exaggerate

I believe they still are waiting for data from wave 5 and 6. Seems they may have a book keeping issue cfzd  Looks like it will be much better than it could of been(closed or June/Sept)but it still BLOWS!!! Last assessment says the fishery is fully rebuilt and overfishing is not occurring. No reason for a reduced quota.

Dont think anything is set in stone yet but the seabass story in NJ is a real shame. but I remain optimistic that from all the hard work from Groups fighting for fisherman are doing that will hopefully work out the way it should.

I first heard June and Sept then Some time in Late may to early sept but they were still waiting for data and could change. we get july and aug we lose the rest of sept.... no traditional fall season... no winter offshore seabass for the Party Boats

To be honest its still a Joke... Seabass populations are booming and rebuilt. Anybody with a 1/2 of brian could see that. We rebuilt the fishery with responsible bag limits and size restrictions along with increasing reef sites/ habitat along the coast.

Speaking just for myself as a charter boat... Late May-Early sept is catastrophic... We fluke fish all summer and then will have nothing to fish for all fall for a specie we all helped rebuild and are now being penalized for. No offshore Winter Fishery for the party boats is also terrible

Was hoping some kind of wave data(what i consider bs fake science anyway) would give a longer realistic season... But it seems they throw us a little bone and were supposed to be happy

Thank God Groups like rfa and united boatmen have been working so hard on this issue or we prob would have nothing!!!!

Write and call your politicians. This is going on in alot of places with alot different species that are thriving!!!

Sorry for the rant but it really disgust me

I did read that the council made the case for a split season May22 - aug 8 and sept 4 - oct 4

But havent heard nothing else on that yet.

That would leave everyone something to fish for when fluke closes but no offshore shore fishing for the party boats which has and will cont to hurt them

Gee, don't sea bass spawn in like, May and June? I would think they would close the season at that time and have it open the rest of the year.

Just a thought.  5hrug

Was hoping for a split season.  Need something to fish for in Sept and Oct.
