Delta Kayaks!

I just found the company/site a couple weeks ago.
Two things interest me:
(1) their boats are thermoformed, not rotomolded, which means their boats are light
(2) they plan on producing a SOT catamaran:



If I get any more information on it I'll let ya know.
One other thing - they are looking for dealers; I believe there are only two or three in the US.

Looks like a pretty cool design.  The only thing I wonder how much effort it will take to turn it since it has 2 hulls.  Tracking should be pretty good as the 2 hulls, if straight, should help with that.

Its suposed to be very fast and turns on a dime with no rudder needed. Acrylic is very stiff also which is a huge advantage over Polyethelene. We have them on order and they should be in the shop in mid April. I am going to attempt to alter one to acept the Hobie Mirage drive. At 49 pounds it wheighs 1/2 of a Pro Angler.

Yes its alot but thats what state of the art construction cost. The seat is awsome and included as well as the hatches. If you could get a few hundred off the price would not be much higher then many of the top of the line rotomolded plastic boats which wheigh a ton, flex and twist and deform in the hot sun. This is not the trash can construction we all have been using for years. Ive heard nothing but great things about Delta and their dedication to perfection. There is alot planned for the future that I cant talk about at this time. Lets just say that in two or three years they may have the most desirable line of kayaks on the planet.

A price tag of of $1450 for the Catfish is about $450 more than a Hurricane P13 (the P130 weighs in at 46#) and about $400 more than a Hurricane P140 (the P140 weighs in at 52#). Hurricanes kayaks are also thermoformed, not rotomolded.
All I'm sayin' is: it's an awfully large chunk of change to drop on a fishing kayak that hasn't been fished yet!

Sounds like I would wait for the jury to come in on it, before dropping that much cash. I should talk, spent close to $1100.00 on my canoe for freshwater.

The construction is not the same. Huricane has had continous problems with their seam. They have no usable hatches and they are not catamarans. The hurricanes also do not come with seats. The seat on the Delta is suposed to be extremly comfy and revolutionary in design. The catfish is twice the kayak.
  I would have never imagined ,me using a catamaran two years ago. But one year spent on the Pro-Angler taught me that single hulls are not ideal for the way I fish at night. Cat hulls are 10 times as stable,roomier,easier to rig, track better,dont need rudders,and are faster then the same size single hulls. Its the way of the future. As soon as I laid eyes on the picture of the Catfish I had to get my hands on some.
