Striped Bass Bonus Permit Question
« on: March 19, 2010, 12:59:15 PM »
Can someone confirm this for me.  I was asked this the other day and when I gave the person the answer, they told me they thought I was wrong.  After looking up the information on the State website, I can see where the confusion may have come from.

Striped Bass Bonus Permits are $2.00 and good for 1 additional fish over 28", per day, per angler.  After you have used your permit, you must report the information and then purchase a new permit for $2.00 more dollars if you want another permit.  The permit isn't good for the entire season, correct?  The person was telling me they just report the fish and then reprint the Bonus Permit, but I think each permit is numbered and only valid for one fish?  I don't know why they allow the permit to be reprinted if it can only be used once and I think that is where the confusion is coming from.  I also think the statement that, if you lose the permit, it costs $2.00 to reprint it for you.  It makes it sound like it is a yearly permit, like a yearly license, instead of a 1 time permit.

Please correct me if I am wrong!

Thanks

 TT^

The permit is good for the season if you do not use it.

Once it is used you must report the fish and then pay $2.00 for processing. You can only use 1 permit a day.

From NJ Fish/Game:

APPLICATION PROCESS

All applicants must complete the Child Support Certification each year. See www.njfishandwildlife.com/child_support_info.htm for details.
Striped Bass Bonus permits are available ONLY on the Division's license Web site, www.wildlifelicense.com/nj/. For a $2.00 application fee, individuals have the ability to immediately print one bonus permit. The permit is non-transferable and valid for the 2010 calendar year. Only one permit can be used per day.

HARVEST REPORTING

All harvest must be reported online. Updated information will be posted on this page when available.

All information on the permit must be completed immediately after harvest and prior to transportation. Report harvest information at www.wildlifelicense.com/nj/. Harvest information must be reported online. A $2.00 processing fee will be charged for each additional permit

The trouble with fishing is it was better before you got there, and after you left.

Yeah, the regs are terrible to try to keep track of. BTW can someone stop by tonight and set the clock on my VCR? It's been wrong since the time change last week.  TT^
