Raritan Bay 4/12
« on: April 12, 2010, 07:36:22 PM »
John and Myself fished the back bay most of the morning using shucked and salted clams from our last trip when we didn't have one bite, this morning had a few light bites, moved up off the Reach Channel in the afternoon and marking fish, unreal the markings, fish alarm constantly going off, getting some quick hits and runoffs but unable to hookup, markings so heavy, dropped a AVA 27 over and jigged one on that I dropped.was getting very frustrated not able to hook up.this continued until the tide changed,I'm used to having them hit that clam hard, but this was a very picky bite.headed in around 2:30.talked to a guy on the water who had done well trolling them up with umbrella rigs,I'd rather bait fish than troll, plus my umbrella rigs were down my cellar.nice day on the water, will try later in the week.  Kez

Kez, Good try.  Hit the Knoll on Saturday with Pilot and caught a few keeps. Might want to give that a try next time.  The Fisherman seems to be doing reel well out there.  T-Bone
