Oh well, we went out this morning later that I would of liked and headed to IBSP. Gillikins was closed due to some pretty soft fluffy sand. A lot of guys were getting stuck. We found that out last Saturday when we were putting up fencing with the NJBBA. We replaces some 2250 feet of snow fencing from Gilli's to A12, not to bad for 24 men and women.
The sand was very soft and in some spots wet and soft making the traveling pretty tough going.
Today the weather was spectacular but the fish were no where to be found. We started at the pocket and worked north. There are a lot of new cuts and holes so look carefully as you drive along.
The water is warming up nicely so the bass should be close behind. I hear that some niced fish are being caught from Seaside Park north to Asbury park. As the bait fish are around but not in droves as of yet. We were using clams as it seems to be the bait of choice to those that are caching right now.
If you go I would make sure to pack both clams ans bunker at this time of the year. Pre dawn seems the right time for now so plan accordingly. The kayak is almost ready for its splash down soon as I am hoping for a trial run next week. The back bay is also getting ready to pop very soon.
Be ready for it when it does, it looks like a great year to be on or around the beach.
Happy Catching
Paul
