Headed out for a day of Blackfishing... Cigar Bob, Greg and Ken, Greg W and Bob Bates rounded out the crew.
Started out of my favorite drops in 60-80ft on sea girt, then Klondike, an Axel Carlson and have Very little Blackfish life... not even shorts... They did have a bunch of cod on them and we caught around a dozen with 3 Being Keepers...Nice to see... but not enough or what we were looking for.
Took a steam down south... but it wasnt much better... some spots no bites besides a few conga pouts and a couple shorts.
Found one spot that had a little life off barney and we picked a couple keepers but ya had to work hard and it didnt last long...
Our last spot in the deep produced some shorts and a couple more keepers.
Been very frustrating this spring pulling my hair out and chain smoking to try find some good life... Ya find it one day and then they close there mouth the next... Very finicky. We still put up a report for every trip we sail. The Good and the Bad! Wish it was better but i am afraid those days will be when the season is closed in May!!!
We wound up with 9 keeper Blackfish and 3 Keeper cod along with some shorts of both. Congrats to Cigar Bob who stood like a statue waiting for a bite and managed to scratch 4 fish limit.
Rode the beach home and didnt see anybass bird life or readings. but hopefully a new batch of bass will push up our way.
Thanks Again Guys
Will be back at it on the weekend and all next week until it closes.
