As of today the meal of choice for bass is bunker chunks.  They were getting large bass and like I said bunker was being used.  If you have anything that resembles a bunker that would be good as well.

Clams are always good but the bigger bass are looking for bunker right now along the surf.

Right now they are all over the place.  There were pods off IBSP yesterday but too far out to make any difference.

You can fish bait from the Yak well....Clams or Bunker.

If fishing the ocean.....Then hang just past the wave break....Use a 4/0 hook with a bank sinker just enough weight to get it down....Then just drift along or fish the edges of some of the deep holes along the beach.

The bay area up your way....Bait fishing from the Yak is great.....Fish the same way as above... I fished for years this way up in the Union Beach area..... A depth finder should be used in these areas.....You can kayak 100 yards off and still be in 5 feet of water.
The areas I fish are the ones you said where a wast of time

whats up kayak1.. yyea that happened to me yesterday. I went out around 4pm , wentout like 100 yds+ and was still in shallow waters. I think a fish finder and depth finder is needed. Also i need to get out earlier, you think?

Well whats funny about this area is that what ever time of day I have ever fished union beach, port monmouth or the highlands.....I was able to produce fish......I can tell you tide means more then the time of day....... Both clams or bunker work well for drift fishing from the kayak in that area......
