Stripers and Blues 5/17
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:25:31 PM »
John and myself out of Sayreville around 8 this morning with a dozen fresh clams and some salted ones and a couple of bunker.gave a call to Stew(Salty Dog)who was also out,he was out by the 11A and only picking blues, told him will try in the back and eventually get up there, started trolling the stretches in the back and no takers, moved around, still no takers, moved toward the 11A and started trolling and picked a few big blues by the 9 can.again talked to Stew and he was out on Romers and not really doing anything.hit an area just in front of The Chapel hill channel and went on the anchor and started clamming for them.wasn't to long and fish on,first one a 31 incher, also John has one on that is lost at the boat, gave Stew a call that we got a little bite going and talked to his fishing Partner Ben and told him where we were.continued fishing and was able to get another 31 incher and a 30 incher and John loses one when our lines get tangled.get a call from Stew, and Ben had misinterpted our location and Stew went to back bay and wasn't coming back out, feel bad, maybe partly the way I explained our location to him.we didn't get any more action here, sat thru the slack  tide and the swing. got a call from Eddie(Hunter 2) that he was on his way out and told him where we were and how we were doing. decided to move back and do some more trolling with the stretches, again heard from Eddie told him what we were doing and continuing on the troll we  picked away at large blues.moved to a spot not far from the 11A, anchored and started clamming, again large blues.while on anchor and cleaning up the boat a little,Eddie pulls up and we talk awhile and as he's leaving one of our poles takes off and John grabs it and he's got a big striped one on.get it in and it just barely fit in the net, fish went over 38 inches and 22 lbs.Eddie watched and took some pictures of us and moved off some to fish.get a call from Eddie,he gets a 35 incher on a topwater.you could see fish swirling on top,I tried a top water and had some passes and swipes at it but no hookups.around 4:30 call it a day, left Eddie fishing and gave a shout that we were leaving.Eddie it was great to actually see you on the water after all the times we talked while out,but we always seemed to be at opposite ends of the bay, hope you killed them after we left.all Striped ones were released to fight another day.a great day on the water. t^    Kez

 t^ nice catch
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
