Fluka up the Hudson
« on: May 19, 2010, 12:08:45 PM »
With the boat moored nearby in Kingston, and a bit of a lull at work,  I have been able to get out several times a week all month.. While I'm having a good time, and enjoying having the boat so close for a change, and getting out with friends and family,  the fishing has been pretty rough  for a variety of excuses err.. I mean reasons..   hhppy  Despite presenting  nice fresh herring, (both chunks, and livies) eels, and some trolling, we're only managing a few smaller fish most days.. I'm just not seeing the schools of fish holding around here like they usually do.  I attribute some to the bluebird weather of late, and the increased pressure I see these days from downrigger trollers anytime they start to school up..  most of the fish I see on the FF seem to be always on the move.. suspended out in deeper water, away from the usual  feeding structures..  rgmn  The highlight of the season so far, has been the achievement of a goal I've had since getting the Scout.. Getting my best buddy Tony out for a day of fishing.. Tony and I fished together constantly,  all over the country, since I was a  teenager.. but he had not been on a boat in almost 6 years..He has been wheelchair bound since losing his leg to diabetes.. So finally after much logistical planning, and the help of a few strong guys, we where able to get him aboard Fluka Brasi for a great day of fishing..

He even showed he had'nt lost his touch, and managed to catch a few Stripers!  TT^

I'm hoping the fishing here picks up a bit before the run ends, but I'm  already looking forward to Fluking!   ;D ..   chrz

Glad to see you buddy got out.

No one should ever take the ability to get on and off a boat for granted.

I have a good friend paralized from the waist down that does everything. Skis, owns boats and fishes salt and fresh all the way to the midwest. Can't let a disability keep you down. Nice report and good luck to your friend.
