Squid
« on: May 22, 2010, 05:16:44 PM »
I buy frozen squid for bait. I thaw them out enough to separate them. I was thinking about soaking them in something to make them more attractive. Any suggestions?

Some of the frozen Squid comes already scented with crab scent, You Might find this at a good tackle shop. I like to use the Gulp spray bottles on my fresh clams while Striper fishing. I like your idea of marinating the strips of squid. I would use gulp Crab spray on the squid. Its a pr oven fact that gulp attractants work.

When I ran a tackle shop we used to soak the strips in shedder crab oil before packaging and freezing them.

I have personally used bunker oil as well. t^

I buy whole frozen squid at shop rite. Not from bait shops much cheaper that way. I thought of dehydrate them then rehydrate them in bunker oil, gulp etc. Even add food coloring if you want. I know I have to much time on my hands.

Hello,

I too get my squid from Shop Rite I cut it into strips then squeese it dry with paper towles, then put in a container and pour a 3 oz bottle of Fin-Atics Shedder Crab oil in the container mix it up and throw in some course kosher salt (toughens the squid a bit) and put in freezer till ready to use.
