Back to my roots...
« on: June 02, 2010, 02:42:20 PM »
Okay as many of you have read I was going fishing with my Uncle today and he wanted to start at Manasquan Inlet.  This was fine but I have not herd of to much going on there yet.

I stopped at Grumpys just as they were opening up this  morning and picked up more bucktails and an extra bag of Fin-S.  Just in case we cane across any fluke or blues.

Left Grumpys and headed up to Point Pleasant. On the way up I noticed that a lot of the motels had very few cars in their lots.  I thought that to be strange but oh well.  Pulled into the inlet parking lot to notice my Uncle already there.  We set up and saw that the water was really honking.  I used the biggest b-tail I had ion the box and it would not hold bottom.  And when it did the grass was so thick I was thinking of selling it to the local Chinese Restaurant.

We stayed for about an hour and decided to make a move.  we went north to Belmar and set up back up the river buy the boat ramp...NADA.

So it was time to make another decision...Back To IBSP.  Hit the beach around 9 or so and headed down to the inlet.  Tons of guys were fishing it so we found a spot and made our selves at home.  Luckily I knew most of the guys. I noticed that there were a few small blues starting to come over the rocks.  We made  a dash to get out there and well Fish-On.  I pulled the first blue over and into the box it went.  My Uncle then got a hit but lost it at the rocks.

I got another hit and into the box that one went as well.  the action slacked off for about a half to 3?4 of an hour went by and then the second wave of blues came into the inlet.  This time these were bigger and I got another hit but this one decided to do a dance.  It cleared the water and gave everyone a show.  Now I have 3 in the box and my uncle had zippo.  He now has been given the nickname of Black Cloud at Grumpys.

It is all in good fun, but he was getting frustrated.  Next week Unk, next week.  But next week we will be out there much earlier and ready for them.  I hope he gets a fish soon I am starting to feel guilty.

So if you decide to go try the inlet.  I was using a white bucktail with a pink Fin-S.  Cast out into the channel and retrieve it slow.  The fish were just lightly tapping the lure but once on they gave a great fight.

Hope to see my fellow surf pounders out there next week as I don't thin I will be getting out before that.  Heading down to Maryland for a family get together this weekend.

Happy Catching

Paul

Thanks Guys...Chris I know that we are planning on being out early next Wednesday, but beyond that I am not sure but I do want to get out a couple more times during the week.

Let me know as well your schedule and I will make plans to meet you out there.  BTW they had a sign on the window of the shack that area 7 was closed due to no beach at high tide.  They finally got it straight and closed that area off.  I bet they had to many people (I am being nice here) getting stuck.

Happy Catching

The guys that are out on the beach in the early mornings (pre dawn) have been catching stripers.  It is not well known but they are there.  The posse has confirmed that.  And not only one person has tole me that but at least 5 that I know of said the same thing.
