Anyone know if ATV's are legal on the beach at Island Beach State Park?

Hi All,

even though I am a proud sticker owner from IBSP, I am not the best at the rules. What I can say is that I have never seen one and I thought every vehicle on the beach must have a sticker, which requires the vehicle to be reigistered, amongst other things.

My best guess is no.

Paul will know.

Bingo Capt. Ed.

All Veh.'s have to be registered to be beach legal which leaves that type of Veh out.

Sorry...

Thanks everyone...BTW, I'm asking because I have a disability that make walking on sand immpossible. I haven't been able to go to the beach for years and it would be nce to be able to go again...

Hi bassnblues,

Sorry but I just got it from the horses mouth, NO ATV of any type allow even in the park let alone on the beach.

If you have further questions regarding handycap use in the park you can call the Visitor Contact Station at (732)793-0030.

I had severe arthritis in both hips for two years and could not walk the beach I had them both replaced and this is the first season I am enjoying the beach again.  I have fished this beach for over 50 years and I missed it.

I get the permit and drive right to where I fish it is so convenient.

I hoped this helped.

Happy Catching.

I have a Jeep Liberty and used to drive on the beach and the woods but if I got stuck now I'd never be able to dig myself out. Thanks everyone!

Hi Bassnblues,

They do have a fishermans walk area and wheelchair type devices with huge wheels for the beach. I don't know if they rent them or if they are available for use for free.

I like to hit the park after Labor Day. You can come with me if you would like. If we get stuck, I deserve to dig it out. Now watch - I will get stuck this year.

Hey Paul, don't you just love the censor on this site.  Tow chain/  I know what you put in there but the censor must work for Rutgers Girls Basketball.    >:D TT^

Just make sure to let out the air in your tires to around 15# pressure for most tires and you will be OK.

They also have air stations along the road to refill to proper tire pressure.

There is also mandatory equipment that you must have for any permit and for the 3 day you have to show them upon getting the permit.

1.  Fishing equipment & bait?tackle for each person over 12 years of age.
2.  Tire Gauge.
3.  Spare tire.
4.  Workable jack & board/support for jack in sand.  (3/4 in. X 12 x 12 in. plywood square minimum size).

5.  Tow chains/Jerk Line.
6.  Shovel
7.  Flashlight
8.  Fire extinguisher
9.  Auto First Aid kit
10. Litter/trash bag
11. Minimum of 1/4 tank of gas

If you want to try it out before going for the full permit they have a 3 Day permit for $50.00. Full permit is $195.00 for right now, there are rumors of it going up again.  I could meet you there and guide you through it just give me a heads up of a couple of days.

Happy Catching.

Paul

PS  I have all the necessary info maybe I can copy it and have Rod post it in a file by itself.

If you have other questions you can call me I am in the contacts forum.

OK we will have to take care of that soon.

It is one thing to have fun but when a person takes things you are trying to help some one who is disabled out is another.

Hay Rod can you see who modified my post?  It might be worth a ban.

Ped,
I believe it is the software looking for inappropriate words.  I'm betting you put in a word that rhyms like hatch (if I put the word in it would be changed).  That happened to me before, that's how I know.

Hi Guys,

I tell you, that software is a mjor challenge for me too. I guess it is nice to have some words filtered but some of my favorites are now not part of my vocabulary.

When Rod tested it - I got a good laugh.

Sorry for the confusion ...
