Had "Boomer" out with me today, along with tackle shop owner Jim,"Hey can you tie me a rig".Most trips start out with a game plan. Do I want to start out shallow or deep? I wanted to start out at Sea Girt Reef and the Klondike and when I cleared the inlet things looked a bit dicey but I figured WTH we'll give it a try. After two drifts at the Klondike it was obvious that we weren't long for the deep water. With the wind "freshening" to about 25-30 and dead out of the west, we took a ferocious a$$ kicking all the way back inside. Now that mother nature made the decision for us, we made a run up the beach and finished the day between Red church and Long branch. Ended up with 5 keepers, largest going 20". Plenty of action with numerous shorts. All in all not a bad day considering we paid the price early.
