I took my nephew (age 10) and brother-in-law out today for a little fresh water fishing. We tried once last year, but got nothing, so the pressure was on to get the kid hooked up and keep him interested.
We hit a small freshwater spot near us around 5pm. We fished for a good three hours. About 2 hrs in, I got a hit and handed the rod off to him. He landed his first fish, a sunny. A few minutes later, on his own bait selection, his our cast, he hooked another one, but lost it as he lifted it out of the water.
Nice Father's Day outing.
