on 7/2 I had a 3man all day wreck charter with a few Boilermakers from Local 13. The guys enjoyed a very good bite and boxed a 3 man 75 seabass limit,2 fat ling and the boats first pollack on a short day. We had more 12.5 to 13" stuff than we have been seeing but still had enough 15" plus to keep everyone smiling.
Today I had a father and son 6 hour ocean /bay combo trip. First we ran out to the inshore wrecks for some seabass. I had to run the radar today knowing most of the inshore snags would have a boat parked over them and did not want to waste time if the wreck was already taken. First drop was very slow with only a hand full of fish. A short move of a few miles produced the action the father and son team was looking for. A nice mix of shorts and good size keepers with a ton of action. With 18 keepers to 2 lbs it was time to head to the bay for some light tackle fluking. I stopped to check a spot that I have not been fishing closer to the inlet to see how its setting up. It had plenty of fish but most were on the small side. The first long drift the 2 anglers boated 10 fluke to 16.5" for some good action. Another pass they grabbed a dozen more shorts. The anglers elected to call it an early day with smiles on their faces. I think I enjoy the father and son trips more than the charters. On a side I spoke with a few boats that were fluking outside and all of them had zero action.
