7/4 Report From the Gulf
« on: July 04, 2010, 05:40:19 PM »
Just finished my 4th day on the cleanup. Mother nature has worked against us yesterday and today with 25-35 knot winds, kicking the seas up to 4-7 ft depending on where you are. Very hard if not impossible to perform any tasks on the water.

More and more Oil and Tar is showing up everyday, and it will not be over for some time. The people of Alabama are great and everyone shows great hospitality and thanks us for coming to their aid.

The logistics of our work area is amazing, between all the cleanup boats, the land based cleanup crews, and issuing/ordering equipment cannot fathom what they do.

Word of the day is safety-safety-safety between keeping hydrated to making sure all your safety equipment is used 9hard hats, steel toe boots, reflective vests, tyvex suits gloves, etc) precautions take up a large part of they day but in the long runare needed.

Due to the sea conditions were got pulled off the water early today. Wish I was with the family celebrating the 4th, as does everyone else down here.

Hopefully the wind will lay down and we can get some real work done the next few days.

Hope everyone of you has a safety and Happy forth, please remember our troops who made this holiday for us

News said today it's head for Miami and could go up the east coast of FL next week. Hope that's not true.
Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

Way to go Bob, great thing you are doing. Come back and get some big fluke!
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
