Sinker Swivels
« on: July 10, 2010, 06:32:31 PM »
Guys,
I need some help here. What are the best sinker swivels to use when fishing for fluke? My problem is that the swivels my son and I are using are getting all tangled up with our lines! We are both fishing with braided line. I also need to know a simple strong knot that I can use for tying sinkers and hooks. I have been out of the game for awhile and when I was a kid I fished mostly in freshw water. I'm sure this subject has been touched on before but I am losing too much line to tangled knots! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure how you are rigged but..... a basic fluke rig uses a 3 way swivel with a clip for the sinker or you can use a fish finder/slider rig. The hi/lo rig with a barrel swivel on top and clip or loop on the bottom is also a popular set-up. Always use good quality swivels as they can eliminate line twist. Bucktails are also a popular way to fish for fluke and many large fluke are taken jigging.Check out your local tackle shop for pre-packaged rigs.Hope this helps  ;D

wts Both Sealife and Noworries have it right!

I use a Palomar Knot for Braid. For me seems quickiest to tie. A uniknot is just as good if not better..stick with these two knots.

Noworries recommendations on the basic fluke rigs shld serve you fine. Be sure to keep bouncing bottom to entice that bite!
