Shimano Introduces New Trinidad "A" (and more) at ICAST
« on: July 15, 2010, 09:14:05 PM »
The new Trinidads will be available in seven sizes.  MSRP on these is $450-$500. (Pic 1)
It was voted Best New Saltwater Reel at this year's ICAST t^

I was really excited to hear that Shimano will now offering the Stradic CI4 reels in some bigger sizes.  MSRP $219.99 (Pic 2)
These are the super lightweight reels that won a "Best of" award at ICAST 2009.  This year they added a 3000 and 4000 size.  I think the 3000 size will fit nicely on my 7' St. Croix Legend Inshore.  ;)

They also debuted a ton of saltwater rods with their Terez series.  (Pic 3)
There are about 35 new rods in this series.  They are designed for many different applications, such as; bottom fishing, tuna popping, live bait, jigging, etc.  Way too many to mention here!
They will be available in five different colors and retail around $200 to $280.

Something that definitely caught my eye is the new Trevala S series of rods (Pic 4).
These rods were made to complement Shimano's new shallow water jigs (see below).  I thought my jigging setup was light now.  But, these rods are supposed to be as light as a freshwater bass rod and have taken amberjack, tuna, grouper and other hard fighting fish.  Seems like they would be a blast for stripers, blues, fat alberts, bonito, and schoolie tuna around here! clp

Any of you that know me, know I love to jig 'em up!  And I know many of you love it too.  With that in mind, Shimano has some brand new jigs out that are guaranteed to get a workout from yours truly.
They have three new additions to their Butterfly family of jigs.  There new "Shallow Water Jig Series"  includes the Slidend, Centervortex and Whirligig jigs.  Each is designed with a specific action and purpose in mind. (Pic 5)

Another series of jigs that look intriguing, and I'm sure will get a lot of press, are the Wax Wings. (Pic 6)
I'm not sure if these will have many applications for us here on the Jersey coast.  But, if one were to find it's way into my tackle bag, I'm sure I would chuck it a few times. ;D

These are just a few of the many items Shimano has introduced for 2011.  To find out more about them and to see more go to http://fish.shimano.com/
