Any advice on a good GPS / Sonar unit ?
« on: August 05, 2010, 06:32:54 PM »
I have a 19 foot Center Console with a 130hp Honda 4 stroke w/ 45 gal fuel. I can't see myself going more then a mile or so out in the ocean. I'm looking for a High detail (nice screen) Recordable sonar / GPS with WAAS mapping. Any suggestions?

I'm Looking at the Garmin 546S, with BlueChart g2 Vision for NY to Chesapeake SD card.

Anyone have this unit? and/or SD card?

I can't find any reviews on line..

Thanks,

John

I had a small garmin unit similar to the one your looking at. They are very user friendly and work well. They are reliable and a good company.

Thanks for all the reply's. I picked up the Garmin 546 S and was out this weekend. Nice unit did everything I expected and more. Only negative thing is the size of the screen, would like a bigger screen one day when I can afford one. Capt. Matt thanks for the reply, didn't read your post till after the purchase. I will keep you in mind with future purchases and/or service. I checked out your website and saved in favorites. Thanks again to all for the comments and advice! clp
