It has been waaaaay too long since my last fishing trip.  So, I was very happy to have a chance to get out with Capt. Joe, Naked Eddie, Jim and Andrew for some fluke fishing today.

The forecast didn't look great, but Joe suggested we all meet at the boat to see for ourselves.  That was a good call.  Although it was windy at the dock, the westerly wind made the seas fairly calm.  In fact, for the first couple of hours I was able to jig with only a 1 oz. bucktail in around 60' of water.  Of course, the wind really kicked up later in the day, and we were all forced to move up to some heavier lead.

Joe put us on some solid, steady action throughout the day.  We probably caught over 100 fluke today, with only 3 keepers in the mix.  That was OK by me, as I had a blast jigging the flukies all day! ;D

Hot baits for me were jigs, Gulp! and fresh spearing that Joe caught at the dock prior to my arriving.  Definitely a fun day for all.  And one that was especially appreciated by yours truly! t^

Nice job Bob....sounds like Joe got you guys on some steady action....I too am feeling the fishing drought....I have yet to wet a line this year :'(.....my business has been crazy this summer

Nice report Bob  t^ We haven't seen many reports FROM JOE this summer  :-X. Only from the folks that have fished with him :headscra:. When Joe first retired he reported EVERYTHING to us, I think he talked to us here on the boards more then he talked to his wife, after 2 years I guess retirement has settled in, he has even retired from writing reports and breaking balls ;D

Yeah Skip, you're right, retired life isn't for everybody...BUT IT IS FOR ME!!!  ;D

Although I have been fishing a lot there hasn't been a lot to report. Most every trip ended with two, three, four or so in the box and a ton tossed back. Can't remember when I have had such a terrible time trying to find the keepers, and I thought last year was bad... :P Been all over creation looking for them, north, south, deep, shallow, just not going to the right places at the right time.

Bucktail did give us a lesson in bucktailing yesterday. The other two in the crew were dragging bait all day and had a whole lot less action than Bob and I (I was also tossing the hair and leadhead). But Bob had me beat at least 4:1 on the fluke. I'm still trying to figure out this spro n gulp tactic. Anyone willing to come aboard and teach me, I tend to be a good student. Just let me know when you want to give the lesson.  TT^

I feel the your pain Joe, I to have been doing the bucktail thing. I do find it less boring then dragging bait. But last weekend Cathy was dragging bait and she put 3 out of our 4 fish in the box. I'll be on the water tomorrow, hopefully i'll come over after I get the boat cleaned up and I disagree at the dock. TT^
