Favorite fluke bait?
« on: August 06, 2010, 05:26:14 PM »
My past few trips out I have been trying different baits. Gulp, killies, squid and spearing.
tried them by themselves or combined. Killies by themselves does not get as many hits as squid or gulp. Using gulp or squid with the pictured rigs seems to work the best. Especially the white. Any opinions?  slt

Looking good.  I like to tie my own stuff.  We will be trying a bunch is different things off the pier on the Chesapeake Bay on Wednesday and maybe part of Thursday.

Looks good. I tie a double rig with the hooks spread further apart. I use whole squid on the rig. Works good.  t^

Double Hook rig or a bucktail jig rigged with a stinger hook, both of which get a long strip of squid or cut bait. Just add a cold beer, and you've got a great fluke fishing combination.  chrz  <'((((><

It depends on where I fish. There are several areas that I fish in my neck of the woods and different baits work better than others. My "go to" bait is the ole ham and egg trick, squid and minnow. My "go to" rig is a single hook, Owner Mutu light wire circle, 40lb test, and between 1-2oz egg sinker. Soem places I use Mackerel, Spot, and Gulp.
