marker buoy weights
« on: October 05, 2010, 02:24:41 PM »
Being that some dip $%#@ stole my dock box last year with my wreck marker buoys in it, i was wondering if any guys have ideas for weights. Window sash weights are tough to come by these days unless your the a-hole that got a hold of mine last year

thanks

How about empty plastic milk cartons filled with concrete?
Come in different sizes depending on the weight you need. Just a thought!!

I use the window sashes too.But a handy alternative is to take a piece of 2 inch pipe PVC or whatever you have around (maybe iron pipe)cut to 12 inch lenght and pour some fast set quickrite with a old shackle on top.Works great for many years.
Good Luck.

I have used a Use a piece of brass brazing rod to make a loop to tie the line to and stick into a 12oz soda can filled half way with lead. No rust and compact enough to carry in the boat.  If you fill the can it becomes too heavy and would sink the floats we were using if the line tangled.   Much less and the float and line would drag it off the spot.
