IBSP passes not necessary?
« on: October 12, 2010, 11:37:49 AM »
Is it me, or has there been in influx of "passless" vehicles out in the park lately?  I'm seeing them almost every outing.  Pushed an older couple in a Honda CRV out of a hole they dug themselves into yesterday....No pass, and tires full of air.  fcp smk

I guess next year I can just save the 200 bucks and drive on regardless?  nosmly

The lack of enforcement out there this year has allowed things to get out of control.
Vehicles with no passes, people with 10 person/3 room tents set up for the weekend, surfers, vehicles with NO fishing gear.   nosmly
Last week the beach was nearly empty.  Couple kids pull up 50ft from us (beach is empty mind you) with surf boards and not a single rod.  Then I see a Park Police vehicle (one of the few times all year) approaching.  So I'm thinking Good he's gonna throw them off the beach.  Nope....he stops and has a friendly chat and off he went.  They must have been buddies  nosmly

My fear is that the lack of enforcement will lead to problems and we lose access as a result.  A true shame considering the cash the State takes in on all the buggy passes every year.

Yup.  I'm surprised you saw the Park Police out there.  I haven't seen them on the sand in a long time.  Last year, I saw them pass me 4 or 5 times each time I went out.  Supposedly, someone complained that their vehicles were getting messed up by driving them on the paved roads without airing back up, so their fix to the problem was to stop patrolling the sand.  Not sure if that's true or not.

I heard something similar.  I'm sure $ is the real reason.  I rarely see them on the paved road lately either.

So true guys.  But I would rather pay the piper than risk the fine.  Maybe we should not help anyone that does not have a pass and just tell then that we will let the gatehouse know about them being stuck and be done with it.

The fine plus the tow truck fee should cure some of the problems.

have they ever done day passes?  went there yesterday, and all they had was 3 day pass for $50.00. My friend was going to risk it and try without the pass, but I talked him out of it. I agree with Paul, I would love to help out, just my nature.....but if they are the ones ruining it for the rest, then call the gate for them.

I'm always willing to help, but not if you're out there illegally.

There are 4' X 6' signs out there stating that a buggy permit was necessary to go onto the beach.

I think the fine is $250.00 not counting paying for someone to come and pull you out. So it could be up there.  Depending on how far the tow truck has to go onto the sand.

I think, the situation would dictate what path I would follow.  If the person is a jerk I would probably just drive off and call the gatehouse.  Unless the tide comes into play.

What an idiot...I am sorry but I have no respect or sympathy for people that can't even take the time to read the sign before entering.  I guess PERMIT NEEDED was too rough of words for her.

The problem is that the gate house won't even help her.  They will give her the number for Lukoil inn SSP and that will probably cost her about $250 for them to take a ride into the park.  Now if she did make it to the beach and got stuck she would be looking at about 5 bills.

Hi honey you will never guess where I am right now.   fcp
