Listen up, real important.
I just serviced a NJSWF member's boat and this is not the first time I've seen this.
One of his items to check was a fuel leak from the water sep.
When you remove the spin-on water sep filter,check the mounting surface on the bracket where the rubber gasket makes contact. His boat is only 2 years old and I surely did not expect to see this. There was a coating of something on it and when I scraped it off, it had already started eating into the aluminum surface. In a pinch, you can scrape and sand it smooth but the pitting of the aluminum will still keep coming back. The right way is to replace it and thats what I did, only this time it got a good coating of Merc 24c grease on it befor the new filter went on.
