Jamaica II 10/18/10 19 lb. Cod
« on: October 18, 2010, 11:27:40 PM »
Went out on the 12 hour Cod/Ling trip today.
Never fished that deep before and had a hard time hooking the ling. Did well with losing rigs.
Some of the regulars finished with numbers in the 20s and a few cod.
On the first drop I was lucky to land a 19 lb. cod that held up to win the pool.
Final for me were 2 cod, 2 ling, and a long needed day off fishing. Forgot my camera but hopefully I will get a few from the Capt. from his.

Fished with Powerpro braid Mike.

Paul, braid is they way to go. I found that they are bottom feeders, I will bounce around slowly till I feel the bait get picked up. After I feel the bait being picked up I start to follow the direction of the pick up taking the slack and give a short swing. That has always worked for me when using j-hooks. When using circles everything the same except the swing just lift rod and reel. The hook needs to be below your sinker and bergalls are awesome bait.
