IBSP - 10-21-10
« on: October 22, 2010, 08:33:27 AM »
Pulled onto the sand around 4:45pm to see some birds working out in the distance.  Met up with Fireman Ed and another, and headed south.  Saw a HUGE group of birds working a bit closer than the last group, and anglers were pouring to the spot.  Not one of the 50 guys there could get their stuff out even close, and there were some distance guys there.  Nothing taking anything.  Headed north to the bathing beaches, where we setup the deadsticks for a bit.  Sun went down, moon lit up, and something kept nibbling, so we switched to smaller hooks, and I landed and released what I think to be a Spotted Hake.  Thought it was a ling at first, but didn't think to catch one from the beach.  We then started to get into some dogfish before calling it a night.  Not much action, but nice to feel some tuggage.

Good try Jason...I was getting reports that huge blues were being caught up at Gillies again.  I was not able to get out there but the bite is still on up there.  I would suggest trying there a few times and get to know some of the old guys.

The strange thing is up therre the birds don't seem to be helping to much you have to wait and watch for the schools of bait fish that come flying in and out.  It is pretty cool watching them being crashed by large blues.

Right now it seems the drought we had of fish a while ago is over and there are tons of fish all around.  There is not much happening on the bottom yet as you can attest to, but, I would try top water plugs and watch the difference in your hook up rate.

I might be out there for a few hours on Sunday morning I'll have to wait and see on that one as we have company over for the weekend.  Plus I am going down to Marlton for the casting tournament today and Saturday.

Happy Catching

Paul

That's this weekend?!  I wanted to check that out, but I might have a little too much on my plate already.

I hear ya.  I am meeting a friend from Hawaii at the practice session today.  I will be taking pictures and maybe a video if I can get the camera or should I say my mind in gear.  I will post some of the pictures later tonight.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
