Kooz and his fellow tank lifters Steve (AKA twisted pretzel) and Frank (AKA franco harris) joined me to search out some stripes this AM. Made the hook at 7:00 as the sun came up. Winds stiff. Dropped the lines in the rips and made three passes before Frank's rod is bent over. First fish 35 minutes into it. Feeling like we were off to a good start. 30" deposit to the vault. Franco was beaming. Sniffed around here for a bit longer. Birds making attempts to get things going. Wind and scattered bait kept eyes darting for a confirmation that a jig bite was going to be solid never materialized
Seas were sporty. We resorted to dragging snakes on 8oz of lead. Finding consistent marks was a challenge. Found a decent hump holding fish near the 1 can in the ambrose. Twisted Pretzel was jacked up as launched into his first striper! Beautiful thing watching someone get hooked for good
A couple of more hook ups and a call to my buddy to get him in on the action. Fish held for a while and then the monster gators showed up and started shredding the little bait we had left. A package of fresh peanuts were tossed our way
We had a some peel offs and a couple of follows right to the boat on the retrieve but no more deposits to the vault. For me.... I was one with demon
but felt like I caught everyone of those bass watching those guys have a blast. We went on the shad troll shortly after the bite slowed. Managed first hook up with a short striper and then a handful more of the monstor blues. Got to the point were the tanklifter Barco Boys didn't want to take the trolling rod. They had their fill!
5 bass, 4 keep largest 36" others 30+
Multiple blues 1 for the table
Couple of spiny dogs
No Lionels
Good day with great guys.
Till next time!
