Just wanted to say Hello...
« on: November 01, 2010, 09:41:13 AM »
I am a new member and I looking forward to reading all the great info you all share. I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to the Ocean(avid freshwater bass angler)and wonder if there is any discussion past or present that I could read to help me get started. I am interested in everything from equipment to clothing to location(if you want to give up a hot spot to a newbie). Thanks and looking forward to "FISHING" ;D

Welcome aboard!  slt  I'm guessing you are boatless, and you'll be hitting the surf.  Check out the "From The Surf" forum.  There's some good sticky posts up top with loads of information.

Hope to hear some good reports from you in the future!  t^

Where ya from?

Thanks for quick response....I am from Dumont NJ, Bergen County....I do fish with my father-in-law sometimes...he keeps a boat in Highland( I think...small marina near Bahrs landing/ Sandy Hook area). He is a great fisherman...mostly bottom fishing...he also is wanting to learn more about bass and other species. I do like to surf fish....have done it in summer only with little sucess....I want to spend more time at it....looking to try this week(on vacation). I am sure i have alot to learn....the right clothing gear is one of my big concerns....thanks for the tip and all future tips...hurricanebk

A pair of waders is a great choice for this time of year as the water is getting pretty cold.  A good sturdy 11' rod for chucking bait, and a 9' stick for casting plugs & metals are a good choice to start out with.

Welcome.
This is a great place.  The guys here have helped me learn a lot in just a couple years.
Like Jason said the sticky threads hold a wealth of info.
The best advise is to read as much as you can and put in your time on the sand putting it into practice.
Good. Luck and enjoy.

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!
