Shark River Inlet 11/07/10
« on: November 08, 2010, 01:23:15 PM »
The 4 man crew left the dock at 9:00 am. With Jersey Joe, John and Mike owner of the nice 29 foot Luhrs boat. Stop to get some gas and noticed Irish Ayes leaving gas dock, It was nice to meet you Joe. Headed out the inlet to find some nice waves and a steady wind out of the north. had some earlier intel to fish 55' to 60' of water. We ended at about 2 miles off the beach and set out 2 umbrella rigs one with shad and the other with red tubes. We were marking fish on the bottom so out came the down rigger with a bunker spoon and set it at 45'. We headed north for about an 1 1/2 hours against the wind, that was fun. Marked a lot of bait fish and fish down deep without any takers. Turned around and started heading south about 1/2 hour into troll the red tube umbrella rig started taking line, we said this is it guys here come the fish. Pulled the rig in for one nice 10 lb. blue which we released, to take advantage of other fishermen in days to come. Set the rig back out and kept heading south pass the Shark River inlet without a single taker. Decided to head back in at 2:00 To give us enough time to clean the boat and get home to watch the Giants. At the end it was a fun trip with great guys. No Bass on the boat but a lot of laughs and nice red faces from all the wind......Good Luck Guys on your next trip....   slt

Scott, nice to meet you too. Always good to put a face to a name.

It was a tad too much for me and my crew to enjoy so we high tailed it back to the dock. Looks like we didn't miss much.

If my boat was a bit bigger I would have stayed out.

My friend Mike is out of the same marina as you...And yesterday with the swells in the inlet, he requested the bridge to open because he was worried about clipping his antenna.Which normally he makes it just fine.
