Tica Surf Rods.
« on: November 23, 2010, 06:20:01 PM »
I am looking to get a few better surf rods than what I am using. The local tackle shop near me only has Tica. Are they any good or does anyone have any other suggestions? I am not looking to spend a fortune, however I dont want to go too cheap. Thanks for your suggestions.

I have 2 Tica rods for the surf.  Both are the TC2 series, a 9ft and a 10ft.  Most of the TC2 rods are in the $100 range.
The TC2, TC3 and Dolphin series are good rods.  I think they have cheaper rods too, but I don't know much about them.

Thanks for your replies. I just wanted to make sure I was not going to be buying junk. These were a  little pricey, about $140-$180 depending on the length and action, so I wanted some expert opinions before purchasing them.

To add my .02 I also have Tica's and have fished them hard for a few years now.  The product is top notch and I would not hesitate to buy another.  I have 3 of them form 8'6" to 11' conventional.  I like the Dolphin Surf for plugging but they all are good and you will have to decide what type of fishing you will be doing most of.

I would check around a bit as far as prices.  I know at the beginning of the year a lot of tackle shops are having sales.  So if you have some patience the wait might ne very productive.

Happy Catching

Thanks for adding your .02 Paul, I do appreciate all of the input. I am gonna check a few other places first to compare the prices. The guy near me,( Sportsman's Outpost) in Williamstown is retiring and mentioned he is willing to take 20% off of any rod purchases to help lower the inventory b4 the new owners take over. So once I check some other guys prices out, I will go back to him and see if he has what I am looking for. IF not, I will wait until next season and see if anyone is having a sale. Thanks again

If I hear of any sales I will let you know.  I think The --------- (a sponsor here)was having a sale you might want to try him.

I also know Grumpys in Seaside park is having a Black Friday sale as well.  But it tis the season so keep your eyes peeled for them.

Happy Thanksgiving

Tica is a good rod. I have 3 the tc 50 bucks the tc2 100 and the dolphin all are good the tc2 is my fav for all around the dolphin is a litte heavier action but like it too right now long branch bnt has the tc for 50 dollars I like this rod also I still use my croix only because I bought it before the ticas. Also I have seeb the tica "striper" looks like a real good rod but haven't picked one up yet because "santa" has to bring me it..
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
