OBX NC Off Shore Report
« on: December 13, 2010, 12:31:45 PM »
I had an opportunity to fish with an old friend of mine, so I made the trek south the OBX and met up with Ed at his boat Friday night.  Ed had reports of big BFTs showing up so we spent the night rigging 80W's and horse Bally's.  Glad we did we hooked 2 big BFT and both broke off after about an half hour fight.  We saw color on one and that fish was well over the 59" max limit.

After messing with the big boys in the morning, we deployed a spread of 50's and trolled for YFTs.  Ended up getting a double knock down and both fish in the boat.  One had a good bite taken out of it by a shark during the fight.  Shortly there after, another strike and my 8 year old went to the chair and boated a nice Mako.  That was the last hit of the day.  Weather was warm and a little rainy throughout the day.

I kept the jaws from that Mako since it was my son's first.  Anyone know a taxidermist that can take care of the jaws for me?  I really don't want to mess with them myself.
